The Classroom ~ An Observation

Mean girls Cafeteria map…

So the other day, I watched mean girls and their cafeteria map got me thinking how in every situation there are certain types of people. I thought it would be quite amusing to underline the types of students in a classroom. Here goes.

The clown/s – these are the guys that float snide little comments across the room to make the lesson a little more interesting, they have varying degrees of effect… from inappropriate to to downright vulgar. I hate to be sexist but, let’s face it, their all boys.

The weird ones – They don’t talk much and have bad habits like farting. No one really knows much about them, extremely unassuming who probably come into their own when in their preferred company. Often teased by the clowns.

Indie ones- (everyone has their own opinionas to what indie is but…) This kid makes funny jokes sometimes but people only laugh because they are trying to fit in and don’t understand a reference to some alternative band. They are awesome at drawing  and doing impressions and sometimes their talent gets “rediscovered”  but by the next week we’ve all forgotten again.

Moaner the Vampire – The one who always has something to moan about. ALWAYS. They’re ill, tired, busy, bored, in love, out of love, too lonely, too popular, too ugly, too pretty, too fat. and because they feel like the biggest victim on the planet they offload their problems and expects you to constantly listen. Anyway, they aren’t all that vital in a classroom.

The Mice – What stands behind Moaner the vampire, life sucked out of them. Similar to the weird ones, but less noticeable. They are polite and often underestimated plus quite clever. They are significant in a classroom because they set the background. If they decide to misbehave, they can majorly affect the teachers mood and others’ activity.

The effortless know-it-all – 1 or 2 per class, these are the people we are pretty jelly of. They get good grades, don’t lose their cool, and still manage to play 9 sports and makes dresses in their spare time. They can determine how the clowns act by simply answering a question, cuing a rant about their annoying perfection.

The “Excitables” – Claiming to have things like ADHD, they take any opportunity to gain a laugh by over reacting to the tiniest things and sometimes before a lesson has started they have decided on what mood they’re in and are too stubborn to change. Extremely easy to wind up, like a match in a petrol station, they can swerve a lesson with the tip of their finger, by making the mice get unsettled, then the Moaners and the weird ones laugh along. The clowns make jokes and once the smarties crack a smile, that’s it.

Before you know it, you’ve got a room full of hyenas tearing the caucus* apart.

I’d go into sub categories but that would include hopefuls, haters and hybrids for each group. I’d be here forever.
